Ash Dieback – and public access works at Langton Westwood:
The remedial tree safety works are currently ongoing, with the aim to be completed by the end of February 2026. This will be combined with closing some of the lesser used paths through the woods to reduce the number of trees we have to remove – as previously noted; these will be closed temporarily (but this could be a for a few years) in order to keep woodland visitors safe. Barriers and signage are being constructed now, and are also due to be fully in place by the end of February.
The map below shows which paths will remain open, those in Red – which are the official Rights of Way, and those in Green – which are permitted routes. Those in blue will remain closed until deemed safe to re-open. All routes will continue to be assessed for tree safety risks routinely. Please note, even though some routes will remain open – walking within the wood will always come with a level of risk, even though remote – due to unexpected sudden limb drop or whole tree failure – this risk can increase during periods of strong winds and drought.
