Consultations

  • Dorset Local Plan – Dorset Council is preparing a new Local Plan to guide development. The consultation looks at how we could meet development needs across the Dorset Council area and identifies opportunity sites for new homes, employment land and traveller sites. It also identifies areas of opportunity for wind and solar power.You can view and comment on the Local Plan options consultation, including site options between 18th August and 13th October 2025.We strongly encourage you to respond using the online consultation. Alternatively, you can request a paper response form or email or write to us. Paper copies of the consultation document are available to view in Dorset libraries. Copies of all the documents can be viewed at County Hall, Dorchester during normal office hours.
  • Dorset Local Plan – To accompany the Dorset Local Plan consultation – which opened on 18th August – there will be a drop-in event at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Swanage on 30th September (2pm – 6pm) for all local residents to get an understanding of the plan and ask questions.

 

  • Dorset Local Transport Plan – Local Transport Authorities have a statutory duty to prepare and update a Local Transport Plan for their area. Our current Local Transport Plan 2011 to 2026 was produced in 2011 and a lot has changed since then. Our new draft Local Transport Plan 2026 to 2041 will set out the long-term goals, strategy, and policies for improving transport for everyone over the 15 years.   • Dorset Council Dorset National LandscapeA new survey has been launched to gather views from people who live and work in Dorset about the future of its cherished landscapes.The feedback will help shape how Dorset’s natural beauty and wildlife are protected and enhanced over the next five years. Closes 22nd September 2025.The team will also be out and about at local events this summer, where you can chat with them in person:
    • Bridport (Bucky Doo Square): 30 July, 9am to 2:30pm
    • Blandford market: 7 August, 9am to 3pm
    • Dorchester (One World Festival, Borough Gardens): 9 August, 11am to 4pm
    • Yeovil: 13 September (TBC)

    • Corfe Castle (Inside Out Festival): 20 and 21 September, 11am to 4pm

  • Dorset CouncilPleasure Boat, Vessel and Boatperson Licencing Policy Consultation – Dorset Council is proposing to introduce a new policy for the licensing of Pleasure Boats, Vessels and Boatpersons. Closes 13th September 2025.
